Why use a communication bus? The ability to scale up simply and economically is the key point for all stand-alone power supply systems and any other power supply system that is far from the public grid. Of course, the connection between different devices and systems is also important. Sunny Island is a communication bus parallel system, which can connect various types of power generation equipment or loads to the same bus system. In this way, no matter whether the load is added or the power generation equipment is added, the system can be expanded at will.

Sunny Island operating principle: Sunny Island is connected with the battery pack, and the voltage and frequency of the communication terminal are controlled to form a communication power grid. All equipment in the off-grid system, including loads or power sources (e.g. Sunny Boy PV inverters), is connected to this communication bus. During periods of high power generation (e.g. when the daylight radiation is strong or the load consumes less), Sunny Island is able to charge the remaining power from the bus into the battery. During periods of high power consumption (e.g. at night or when the load consumes a lot of power), Sunny Island is able to invert the direct current stored in the battery into communication and feed it into the communication bus.

Flexibility: Virtually all generator sets can be connected to the Sunny Island stand-alone power supply system, including photovoltaic power generation systems with Sunny Boy inverters, wind turbines, hydroelectric generators and diesel generators with SMA Windy Boy inverters (which can be actively started when the battery pack capacity is low). Since the Sunny Island 4500 and 5048 can be operated in parallel, the independent power supply system composed of these devices can be gradually expanded into a large power plant system as needed. In order to ensure the safety of the system of large-scale power plants, Sunny Island can be installed in the main string format. Up to four devices, including the battery, can form a single unit. In order to ensure that the output data is at a specified level, several of these units can be operated in parallel. The advantage of this is that if a battery fails, it will not affect the overall operation of the system.
