Japan Electronics Machine Tool Co., Ltd. has developed the MPLW series of electromagnetic induction linear position detectors that can digitally detect machine positioning and feedage. In addition to the same resolution*1 and accuracy as the conventional MPLZ series, the newly developed signal detection method and the high integration of the substrate eliminate the use of grating wiring and analog/digital converters (hereinafter referred to as A/D converters), and add a multi-slider function that allows multiple sliders to be set, thereby achieving a low product price. Japan Denko's machine tool plans to expand into the industrial machinery market, represented by machine tools, from this fall.
The MPLW series is a high-precision grating scale for general purpose equipment, with a linear axis position detection resolution of 0.01 μm and a pitch accuracy of *25 μm. The conventional MPLZ series has a grating scale and slider mounted on the target machine, which connects the wiring from both sides and sends and receives electrical signals via an NC (numerical control) device. This time, Japan Denko Machine Tool has developed a new detection mode*3 that can receive electrical signals from the grating ruler without interfering with each other, and this signal detection method eliminates grating wiring. In addition, the function of the A/D converter that converts the electrical signal from the encoder into a digital signal is built into the slider, so a high degree of integration of the substrate can be realized, and the control device of the machine and the transmission and reception of signals can be realized using only the scale and the slider. The development of these technologies eliminates the need for encoder wiring and A/D converters, thereby reducing the number of parts and manufacturing steps, and greatly simplifying installation on the customer's side. In addition, Japan Denko's machine tools have added a multi-slide function, which allows multiple sliders to be set on a single scale for a variety of purposes.
The MPLW series is characterized by its excellent durability and detection accuracy that is not affected by dust, oil and condensation. In addition, the completely non-contact structure is favored by many industrial fields due to its long-term stability and accuracy, and its susceptibility to heat.
