The cloud connection is uninterrupted, which greatly improves the operation power and shows a clear way to fly autonomously
Intuitive user experience similar to that of everyday consumer smart electronics
Expandable planning, which can be applied to a variety of aircraft types and various subdivisions
Shanghai, China, October 21, 2021 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) has unveiled a new aircraft cockpit system that improves flight power, maneuverability, safety and comfort. The Honeywell Anthem Cockpit System dramatically improves connectivity, provides an intuitive interface similar to everyday smart devices, and is planning with a high degree of flexibility that can be scaled and customized. At the heart of the cockpit system is a flexible software pipeline that can be customized for virtually any type of aircraft type and hoverboard, including large passenger and cargo aircraft, business jets, helicopters, utility aircraft, and the rapidly emerging Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) hoverboard.
Mike Madsen, president and chief executive officer of Honeywell Aerospace, said, "Honeywell is not just introducing a new cockpit today, but is changing the way pilots operate aircraft, making its inventions more intuitive than ever before. Just as we're moving from flip phones to smartphones, the Honeywell Anthem cockpit system will change the pilot's experience with customizable controls that can be operated quickly and easily with just a few finger swipes. ”
Connectivity makes a difference
The Honeywell Anthem Cockpit System is designed to address two major issues facing the aviation industry. First and foremost, it invents more active ways to operate in an increasingly cluttered aircraft, reducing pilot stress and improving safety and power. Second, it enables the separation systems that support the aircraft to work together more seamlessly to provide critical information to the pilot.
The Honeywell Anthem cockpit system supports the increasing level of hoverboard initiative, and will complete the full active operation if future regulations agree. Increasing connectivity between aircraft systems can enable the increasing need for automation to reduce the workload of pilots, protection personnel, and other service providers, whether it's manual tasks for solo pilots or messy processes for large fleets.
Previously, mechanics and pilots had to transmit critical data such as conservation status and flight plans via a wired connection on board the aircraft. The Honeywell Anthem cockpit system enables such data transfers without the need for an operator to be physically present on the aircraft. In addition, support systems for fuel, protection, catering, and more are siloed, and pilots have to interact with multiple third-party apps, websites, and businesses before and after flying. Pilots need to consolidate all this important information and share it with many support staff before, during, and after flying.
As the industry's first cloud-connected always-on avionics, Honeywell's Anthem cockpit system generates and transmits data from above-ground servers to provide the information needed by flight operators. When an airplane doesn't even need to be powered up, pilots and protection personnel can see the information they need before takeoff.
Vipul Gupta, vice president and general manager, avionics at Honeywell Aerospace, said, "Everyone who touches a flight has access to information that matters to them when they need it. The aircraft can be visited through the cloud infrastructure, and data such as protection data, flight plans, and overall aircraft condition are actively stored by avionics or ground applications used to support personnel. This means that any authorized user will be able to access data from any address. ”
The connectivity of Honeywell's Anthem cockpit system dramatically reduces pilots' preparation time before flying, up to 45 minutes per flight. It integrates seamlessly with the ubiquitous eFly Bag program application, enabling pilots to create, store, and retrieve flight plans from anywhere. After the pilots have loaded the flight program for a long distance, when they enter the plane, the flight program is now ready and waiting for takeoff. The connectivity built into Honeywell's Anthem cockpit system completes the industry's first long-haul flight loading function. Cockpit preparation can also be quicker before the engine is started, as many routine tasks can be completed long distances before getting on the plane.
In addition to the benefits of pilots and operators, from protection personnel to caterers, all will benefit from the Honeywell Anthem Cockpit System. They will be able to better understand the real-time flight details. For example, before heading to the airport, pilots can be notified by the new Mission Manager feature, so that refueling teams, ground transportation and catering service providers can keep their refueling teams, ground transportation and catering service providers informed of mission plans even if they have to change due to unexpected weather. Once the Aviator is connected to the Honeywell Anthem cockpit system, everything is under control.
As intuitive as a smartphone, there are generous apps to use
In addition to the cloud-connected avionics, the Honeywell Anthem cockpit system has an easy-to-use smartphone-like interface that is more intuitive than other cockpit systems. It provides a wide range of functions for pilots and operators to significantly improve data access, increase operating power and safety. Whether the pilot or operator is in the cockpit or on the ground, the layout of the digital display in the cockpit can be customized to suit their preferences. With the click of a finger, the Flyer is able to reconfigure the screen or cluster of information, just like on a personal smart device. In addition, unlike the limited text input or fundamental graphical menus on traditional interfaces, the Honeywell Anthem cockpit system uses visualization and a modern approach based on graphics and gestures to make the cockpit system easier to use and more fun to fly.
The Honeywell Anthem Cockpit Manifestation Plan enables aircraft manufacturers to incorporate a new modern aesthetic into their products, benchmarking them against the high-end automotive market. Its crystal-clear 2K resolution display showcases today's advanced security features. In addition, the new capabilities of Honeywell's Anthem cockpit system provide pilots with unprecedented situational awareness, significantly reducing the likelihood of ground collisions, runway incursions and runway runway rushes by up to 50 percent. These functions include the 3D Runway Overrun Warning and Perception System (ROASS) and the 3D Airport Movement Map. The Honeywell Anthem cockpit system also provides a simple and practical symbology for planning, a visual system for trajectory-based composition, and an inductive navigation map and a straight posture display. Designed to accommodate current and future aircraft types, the Honeywell Anthem Cockpit System enables advanced functions that have previously relied on high-end computing power to be used for the first time in small business and general purpose aircraft.
Another feature of the Honeywell Anthem Cockpit is its web browser, which allows third-party applications and websites to run within the Honeywell Anthem Cockpit Cockpit. For example, through a third-party app and a live climate camera, the pilot observes the real-time climate at the airport at that time. It is also possible to display real-time radar images over the airport. Flyers can get more of this information with just a tap of their finger, helping them make better decisions in most situations.
The Honeywell Anthem Cockpit System is also integrated with the Honeywell Forge software channel to provide aerial and ground handling solutions for flight operations, flight power and connected protection in a single user interface. This allows operators to make proactive decisions about the flight path, then save fuel and help avoid flight disruptions due to protection. For example, because the Honeywell Anthem cockpit system provides always-on cloud connectivity throughout the flight, protection personnel are able to receive notices hours before the aircraft lands and have the necessary materials and personnel to quickly perform any on-board operations, maintaining the aircraft's outstanding condition to ensure that subsequent flights are flailing. Honeywell Forge helps operators and OEMs reduce the labor costs associated with managing their fleets by 10 to 15 percent.
"Combined with our new and intuitive user interface, you can have a completely new system by customizing the look and feel of the user interface to your detailed needs," Vipul said. The Honeywell Anthem Cockpit System will bring us closer to the industry's approach of better flight experience and more active flying. ”
Powering the emerging urban air mobility mall
In addition to being used on general-purpose, rotorcraft and business jets, the Honeywell Anthem cockpit system will be used for the future aircraft channel in the emerging AAM marketplace. Vertical Aerospace and Lilium have selected the Honeywell Anthem cockpit system for the straight-takeoff and landing of the all-electric VA-X4 and the 7-seater Lilium jet, respectively.
Vertical's VA-X4 is a human-piloted, zero-emission, battery-powered aircraft. The aircraft takes off straight, has a top speed of 200 miles (322 km/h) and can carry up to four passengers, which is significantly quieter than a helicopter.
The Lilium Jet is the world's first electric jet that takes off and lands straight. It can accommodate six passengers and one operator, and has a cruising speed of 175 miles (282 km) per hour and a non-stop range of about 155 miles (250 km). In the coming years, both innovative aircraft will fly with the Honeywell Anthem cockpit system.
"One of the many strengths of the Honeywell Anthem cockpit system is its ability to adapt to virtually any aircraft – both literally and figuratively. It's scalable and customizable, which means we're able to mount it on almost anything that's flying now or will fly in the future. This is great news for our Urban Air Mobility (UAM) customers," said Stephane Fymat, vice president and general manager, Urban Air Mobility and UAV Aviation Systems, Honeywell Aerospace. "The VA-X4 and 7-seater Lilium jets will revolutionize intra-city and regional air travel, they will be the first to use Honeywell's Anthem cockpit system, and will revolutionize the way we fly aircraft."
