1. Background
Today we want to talk about Elite's customers in the automobile manufacturing industry in East China, the company has been deeply involved in the auto parts industry for nearly 30 years, and its business covers many categories such as automotive interior and exterior decoration, seats, rubber, automotive electronics, software systems, etc., mainly providing systematic solutions for international well-known brand automobile manufacturers such as Changan Automobile, Great Wall Motor, Chery Automobile, etc., and is committed to promoting the global intelligent transformation of automobiles.
2. Pain points
The case revolves around the customer's two injection molding workshops, which mainly produce automotive interior injection molding products, including central controls, door panel trims, armrest boxes, etc. The blanking of the injection molding machine is generally responsible for the truss manipulator, and the assembly and bayonet installation of the handrail box are basically completed by hand. With the gradual expansion of the company's production capacity, the number of orders has also increased exponentially, and the increase in labor costs and the difficulty of recruiting workers have also become prominent. Therefore, there is an urgent need for customers to increase the automation of production lines.
Before that, the customer also tried to use traditional industrial robots, but the traditional industrial robots occupy too much area, the original production line is modified, and the reusability is not high, and it is not suitable for more and more small batches and multi-variety orders. It was at this time that collaborative robots were officially included in the customer's consideration, and after being contacted by many parties, the customer chose to cooperate with Elite Robot, which has many real cases.
3. Solution
This project is the application of automatic installation buckle of the decorative strip of the door panel, the decorative strip of two specifications needs to install a total of 20 white plastic buckles, which is required to be completed within 60 seconds, and the manual is only responsible for the upper and lower workpieces, and it is necessary to ensure that the manual operation can not be affected when the equipment has problems. After on-site inspection and in-depth communication in the workshop, the customer selected Elite EC66 collaborative robot, with a load of 6kg, a working radius of 914mm, and a repeat positioning accuracy of ±0.03mm. Considering that the cycle time is slightly faster, the integrator has installed a pneumatic quick-change disc at the end of the robot, and also specially designed a clip-type buckle compartment, taking advantage of the small and light characteristics of the Elite collaborative robot, placing the collaborative robot in the middle of the workbench, and placing two fixtures for fixing the workpiece on both sides of the robot. In this way, when the robot installs the buckle on one side, the other side fills the buckle compartment with the buckle in advance, and the two sides are alternated. In the end, the project was delivered to not only meet the customer's cycle requirements, but also successfully replaced the manpower of 1 station, which also made a good preparation for the future workshop renovation needs.
In addition, collaborative robots can also be competent for flexible production - for the small batch and multi-variety production mode that customers are concerned about, collaborative robots can preset programs, and when the product batch is replaced, the new program can be quickly called and the robot can be debugged to quickly put into new tasks, helping customers greatly shorten the changeover time. What's more worth mentioning is that the cost-effective cobot improves the automation rate of the production line for users, and the return on investment period is only 8-12 months.
4. Prospects
A small step for collaborative robots to settle in the workshop production line will be a big step for the industry's automation upgrade.
