Hybrid and all-electric drives play a decisive role in the energy saving and emission reduction of automobiles
As well as the idle start-stop function, the existence of electric oil pump cannot be ignored.
Taking the oil crisis that broke out in the Middle East in the 70s of the 20th century as an opportunity, since entering the 21st century, the trend of energy conservation and emission reduction in the global automobile market has become more and more obvious. In order to cope with the strict constraints, major automakers are competing to come up with new ideas for the design and mechanical structure of the vehicle. In order to reduce the idle time of the engine as much as possible without the use of gasoline engines, the current solution is to use an all-electric drive system driven by a battery and a motor, a hybrid drive system driven by an engine and a motor, and an idle start-stop function that automatically turns off the vehicle when the vehicle is parked. All of these solutions face the same problem: the mechanical oil pumps of the past can no longer meet the new technical requirements. As a result, a new generation of products to replace mechanical oil pumps, electric oil pumps, was born.
Solutions such as hybrid drives, all-electric drives, and start-stop functions used to reduce fuel consumption in vehicles all face the same problem: the mechanical oil pumps of the past can no longer meet the new technical requirements. This technical problem had to be solved by switching to an electric oil pump.
In 2013, Japan Densho Tosok launched an electric oil pump exclusively for hybrid vehicles. The characteristic of this product is that it can ensure high voltage, high oil pressure, and high flow rate (100V, 1MPa, 10L/min) even when the engine is turned off. Compared with similar products in the industry, the power of the electric oil pump has been increased by 25%, which is the most powerful product among the current electric oil pump products. At the same time, the product not only uses a high-efficiency brushless DC motor, but also equips the transformer with self-developed control software, which successfully realizes the fast start of the motor without sensors. After greatly improving the bearing structure of the internal gear pump inside the product, it not only effectively reduces the torque loss of the pump, but also reduces the vibration and noise when the gear rotates.
The combination of energy-efficient brushless DC motor, self-developed transformer control software, and low-noise internal gear pump creates an industry-leading high-performance electric oil pump.
The entire automotive industry is taking action to expand the stopping area of the engine and pursue more effective fuel economy, from start-stop at idle speed to taxi-stop when the engine is stopped when decelerating, and cruise stop when the engine is stopped during inertial driving after acceleration. In addition, there is a trend to use electric oil pumps for clutch binding, cooling, and lubrication. In addition, the increasing number of cases of installing electric oil pumps in large vehicles with hybrid systems and the increasing demand for larger electric oil pumps are driving the further expansion of the electric oil pump market. In the future, the company plans to expand its lineup of electric oil pumps, from small to large, from small to large, for the cooling of CVTs, DCTs, and EV main motors, including the replacement of mechanical oil pumps.
Note from the developer
The secret to the success of electric oil pumps for hybrid vehicles, which began mass production in 2013, is to pursue high performance in all aspects of motors, transformers, and pumps and make them a reality. In the future, in order to cope with increasingly stringent fuel restrictions, the market for electric oil pumps, which will replace mechanical oil pumps, will continue to expand and become more competitive. Japan Denco Tosok will strive to create a larger market share in the electric oil pump market by leveraging Japan Denco and its R&D institute, which ranks first in the world in brushless DC motor technology, Japan Electro Elex, which has strong advantages in automotive electronic circuits, and Japan Denco GPM (Germany), which specializes in mechanical oil pumps, as well as a joint R&D system with universities and institutions.
