Universal Robots (UR) has developed an e-series teach pendant with integrated 3-position enablement to improve the customer experience when using the enabler with UR cobots.

e-Series: Changing joints takes only 10 minutes

Currently, the 3-position enabler is available for all UR e-series cobot models. It is a variant of the teach pendant and is a component of UR+. The unit is hardwareically and functionally integrated with the e-Series teach pendant and is plug-and-play and can be used with any E-Series control box. In addition, the 3-position enabler can be fully integrated into the Polyscope user interface to support all cobot movements, including free drives in manual mode.

Any customer who needs to install a 3PE device for their robot should consider using a UR 3-position teach pendant. Its core benefits include:

The e-Series is UR's flagship platform, building on significant advances made in previous generations, with new features added every quarter. In addition to the lighter teach pendant design, the e-series cobots have a 500 Hz control frequency, which is 4 times faster than the CB3 series, and the tool side can support RS-485 communication, which greatly reduces the difficulty of cable routing. In addition, it only takes 10 minutes to replace joints with the E-series cobots, and the force sensor automatically calculates the center of gravity of the load, and the safety range is extended from a center point to a spherical surface, which can effectively avoid collisions.

The advantages of the e-series in various application environments are also more prominent, such as more precise force-controlled follow-up tightening; Automatically adapts to irregular surface polishing; A single pallet can be used to change the stacking pattern of different layers, etc.

The key technologies of the E-Series also include:

· Generate G-code toolpath files using standard CAD/CAM packages for easy import of cobots; It can simplify the setup work of 2 hours to 10 minutes.

· Add dynamic conversion amounts to a predefined path between two waypoints, or switch paths in real-time based on sensor feedback, ideal for process applications such as welding or dispensing;

· Self-selection of program start and abort points: Allows the user to start the program execution from an alternative routine or program; Add a breakpoint to automatically pause the program when the line is reached.
