In 2005, three Denmark university students had the idea to create a company that provided commercial collaborative robots; Today, the company is transforming and disrupting entire industries and markets. Universal Robots is a company dedicated to the development of widely available robotics and was founded in 2005 and headquartered in Odense, Denmark. UR robots are highly valued for their cost-effectiveness, high flexibility, ease of use and safety that can be automated and rationalized in all areas of industrial production. The company's cobots are intuitively programmable, versatile, and have virtually unlimited end-of-line tooling, so they can support production regardless of industry, company size, or product nature.

First of all, it is very easy to set up, even for operators with no programming experience, and it has the characteristics of intuitive and 3D visualization, just move the robot arm to the desired position, or touch the down arrow key on the easy-to-use touchscreen tablet.

Second, due to the ease of installation, Universal Robots has revolutionized the setup of cobots, reducing typical robot deployments measured in weeks to hours. The average set-up time reported by our customers is only half a day. For an untrained operator, it usually takes less than an hour to unpack the cobot, to take it out, to install the robot, to programming the first simple job.

Furthermore, with the flexibility to deploy without being tied to a dedicated robot, Universal Robots' six-axis robots are lightweight, space-saving, and easy to redeploy across multiple applications without changing production layouts. It's quick and easy to move a cobot into a new process, with the flexibility to automate almost any manual job, including small batches or quick changeovers;

Finally, it's collaborative and safe to replace human operators doing dirty, dangerous, and boring work to reduce repetitive strain injuries and accidental injuries. Of the thousands of UR Cobot robots worldwide, 80% operate without safety guards (after risk assessment) and without a human operator nearby. Universal Robots' safety systems are approved and certified by TÜV (Germany Technical Supervision Association).

Universal Robots Robotic Arm – Design Requirements for Robotic Arms Universal Robots Robotic Arm – Design Requirements for Robotic Arms

1. The arm should have a large bearing capacity, good rigidity and light weight The rigidity of the arm directly affects the smoothness of the movement, the speed of movement and the positioning accuracy when the arm grabs the workpiece. If the rigidity is poor, it will cause the bending deformation of the arm in the vertical plane and the lateral change deformation of the horizontal plane.
