In 2021, Weidmüller launched the innovative connectivity skill SNAP IN, which has become the new standard in the field of connectivity and is also optimized for the future of panel manufacturing. SNAP IN enables active wiring of industrial robots.
Automation and robot-assisted wiring will be a key core of panel manufacturing in the future. With SNAP IN connection know-how, Weidmüller has optimised many terminal blocks, PCB connectors, PCB terminals and heavy-duty connectors to get used to the active cabling of the future.
With Weidmüller's SNAP IN connection skills, no wires are required and very little insertion force is required. Neither manual nor active wiring requires anything special. The family-owned company based in Detmold, Germany, also planned the sound and visual signals when the conductors were successfully inserted – essential for successful automated wiring in the future.
In addition to the skill set, SNAP IN offers a short-time, cost-effective, and process-reliable solution for automated cabling. This skill is extremely sensitive and able to get used to different products and panels at any time.
All Weidmüller products equipped with SNAP IN connectivity skills are delivered to the customer already wired. This means that the clamping point of the product is always open when it arrives at the customer's site – thanks to the product's anti-vibration planning, the customer no longer has to spend time open.
SNAP IN enables plant personnel and equipment manufacturers to perform the cabling process more efficiently. For example, there is no longer a need for crimping procedures, which are often time-consuming. Even flexible wires without wire end ferrules can be easily wired with SNAP IN. The plant operator is able to effortlessly insert the stranded stranded wire directly into the joint point. As soon as the conductor is inserted, the pre-clamped coupling point is triggered and closes quickly. This speeds up the work process and together saves resources and materials.
