Why does the motor driven by the inverter overheat? This is due to the fact that the voltage of the inverter drive motor contains a rich high-frequency component.
The voltage waveform of the inverter-driven motor is not a sine wave voltage, but a pulse-width modulation (PWM) voltage. According to Fu Liye's analysis, this waveform contains a rich high-frequency component, the main frequency component is the repetition frequency of the PWM pulse, and the frequency of its integer multiple, the repetition frequency of the PWM pulse is called the carrier frequency of the inverter.
The carrier frequency of different inverters is different, generally 1-12kHz. Regarding the PWM voltage with a carrier frequency of 1 kHz, the current flowing into the motor is mainly 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 3 kHz, 4 kHz, 5 kHz, and other frequencies. These high-frequency currents add to the motor winding losses and core losses. The theoretical analysis shows that the loss of the winding is proportional to the square root of the frequency, and the loss of the core is proportional to the square of the frequency.
The solution to motor overheating is to reduce the high-frequency component in the motor drive voltage. This is accomplished by installing a SWF sine wave filter at the output of the inverter. The sine wave filter converts the PWM voltage waveform into a sine wave voltage waveform adapted to the motor, and then eliminates the phenomenon of motor overheating.
Sine wave filters will announce loud noise, and they will be accompanied by higher temperatures, which are normal phenomena. It can be assumed that it is the sine wave that will cause the motor to announce noise, and the energy to raise the temperature will be borne up to protect the motor.
When acquiring a sine wave filter, it is important to know the carrier frequency of the inverter, otherwise it may have undesirable results. For example, the hoist temperature is very high and accompanied by a large noise, and it is expected to be adjusted. This is a very typical problem, and only a SWF filter is required. Before the acquisition of the filter, the information provided by the elevator manufacturer was that the carrier frequency of the inverter was 2kHz. However, after installation, it was found that the noise was louder and the motor temperature was higher.
After field testing, it was found that the actual carrier frequency of the inverter was 1kHz. The parameters of the sine wave filter need to be corrected from scratch, and after the parameters are corrected, the whine of the motor disappears at all, and the temperature drops from the original 65°C to 53°C. The temperature of the motor drops, which is very advantageous about extending the life of the motor. In addition, after installing a sine wave filter, the bearing current can also be eliminated and the life of the motor can be extended.
