1. Physically damaged parts
After turning off the IPC, the motherboard can be physically inspected. Often, overheating, material defects, and planned aging can cause capacitors to leak or swell. If you see a capacitor that you want to burn, there may be a problem with the motherboard.
2. Unusual burning smell
One of the obvious symptoms of motherboard failure is the burning smell. Usually, a strong burning odor means that the component is overheating. Sometimes, incompatible components can cause overheating or malfunction. For example, an incompatible graphics card or RAM can damage the motherboard.
3. The BIOS menu appears on boot
Usually, you need to manually configure it to get to the BIOS menu. If it appears on its own during the boot process, it indicates a large number of software or hardware errors, such as motherboard issues. Since the BIOS menu manages the PC's hardware protocols, it is difficult for the motherboard to communicate with the installed components, such as video cards, so the menu appears at boot. In addition, the presence of the BIOS also indicates that a certain component on the motherboard has stopped working or has an error.
4. The application is malfunctioning
If your motherboard fails, you can't manage all the hardware components of your Advantech IPC. This can lead to more shutdowns and application latency.
5. Random locking or freezing problems
Another bad motherboard symptom is that your Advantech IPC randomly freezes or locks. If you find that your PC is frozen, you should troubleshoot it to see if it's a software issue. If you rule out software issues, consider the possibility of other hardware components, for example, motherboard failure.
