1. Extra limit short-circuit breaking can be used for Icu

There are two types of breaking capacity targets for circuit breakers: additional limit short-circuit breaking capacity of 4U and additional operating short-circuit breaking capacity Ics. As a characteristic parameter, ICS does not only consider the breaking ability of the circuit breaker, but also serves as a breaking target, that is, after breaking several short circuit faults, it can also ensure its normal operation. For molded case circuit breakers, there should be a satisfactory ICU that can break the short-circuit current and trip the switch. According to the rules, the ICS of molded case circuit breakers only needs to be greater than 25% ICU to be qualified. At present, most of the ICS of circuit breakers on the market are between (50%-75%) ICUs, so the power distribution system with low power supply requirements only needs to consider the ICU.

2. Ability to limit current breaking

The ability to limit the current breaking refers to the ability to constrain the fault current when the circuit breaker is short-circuited and tripped. When the circuit breaker generates a short circuit, the contact is quickly opened to generate arc, which is equivalent to inserting an arc resistor in the line that is quickly added, and then restricting the addition of fault current. The fewer the circuit breaker disconnection moments, the closer the ICS is to the Icu, the better the current limiting effect, and the adverse effects of the electromagnetic effect, electric effect and thermal effect caused by the short-circuit current on the circuit breaker and electrical equipment can be greatly reduced, and the service life of the circuit breaker can be prolonged.

3. Short-circuit maintenance

Short-circuit maintenance is the instantaneous tripping of a short circuit. It is necessary to pay attention to adjusting the setting value of maintenance in time after the load change, so as to avoid the setting value being too small and frequent tripping affecting the power supply quality, or the setting value being too much will cause the line and equipment to not get useful maintenance.

4. Overload delayed maintenance

Overload delayed maintenance means that the load current exceeds the limit of the equipment and there is a risk of burning the equipment, and the maintenance device can block the power supply within a certain time. Overload has a process of heat accumulation, and maintenance actions do not need to be too agile. Regarding short-term overcurrent, maintenance should not be operated.

5. Barrier function

The blocking function is to require that the leakage current after the circuit breaker is disconnected will not cause damage to people and equipment. After repeated short-circuit trips, the switch function decreases, and the leakage current increases. For the human body, less than 30mA is a safe leakage current, but in a harsh environment, the leakage current exceeding 300mA lasts for more than 2 hours, which may cause insulation damage and cause a phase-to-ground short circuit and cause a fire.

6. Leakage maintenance

There are two types of leakage maintainers: thermomagnetic and electronic, and the electronic leakage has the advantages of small size, high precision and high sensitivity, but its anti-interference ability is poor. At present, the electronic leakage maintainer occupies the main current, and when the leakage current reaches the setting value, the execution circuit receives the induced voltage signal on the secondary side of the zero-sequence current transformer, and drives the conversion contact to output the leakage maintenance signal, so that the tripper acts to block the power supply.

Generally, the setting leakage trip current of the terminal switch is 30mA, and the setting value of the upper branch switch is 300mA. The arc short circuit with a high risk of fire is difficult to be effectively blocked by short-circuit maintenance, and the leakage current can be firmly disconnected from the grounding fault to avoid personal electric shock and phase-to-ground short circuit fault.
