The selection of proximity sensors follows the essentials – the blessing of the United States

For different raw material detection bodies and different detection intervals, different types of proximity sensors should be selected to make them have a high performance-to-price ratio in the system, for which the following principles should be followed in the selection:

1. When the detector body is a metal material: a high-frequency oscillating proximity sensor should be selected, which is the most sensitive to the detection of iron-nickel and A3 steel detectors. For aluminum, brass and stainless steel detectors, the detection sensitivity is low.

2. When the detection body is a non-metallic material: a capacitive proximity sensor should be selected, such as wood, paper, plastic, glass and water.

3. When metal and non-metal are to be detected and controlled at a distance: photoelectric proximity sensor or ultrasonic proximity sensor should be selected.

4. When the detection body is metal but the sensitivity requirements are not high: low-cost magnetic proximity sensor or Hall proximity sensor can be selected.
