ABB will supply ABB Ability™ digital solutions to its customers in China through Huawei Cloud infrastructure. The announcement was made today at Huawei Connect 2019 in Shanghai, China, Huawei's annual flagship event for information and communication skills (ICT) careers, and ABB also showcased a number of ABB Ability™ solutions based on HUAWEI CLOUD.
For customers in China, ABB combines its leading career solutions and domain knowledge with Huawei's strong cloud infrastructure and platform service capabilities. The two companies will collaborate and innovate together, using cloud skills, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and professional expertise to unlock the potential of digital transformation of careers for the benefit of our customers.
After a thorough analysis of the different choices in China, ABB selected HUAWEI CLOUD because of its skills and expertise, strong enterprise customer base in the public sector, and high compliance and cybersecurity standards. HUAWEI CLOUD provides our customers in China with additional deployment options for specific ABB Ability™ solutions.
In addition to the cloud, ABB is also opening up collaboration with Huawei on artificial intelligence (AI). During a customer event, ABB's robot used vision and AI deep learning (based on Huawei's AI accelerator module) to demonstrate waste sorting.

HUAWEI CLOUD provides cloud infrastructure services to support an environment for intelligent international growth. According to a recent cloud mall statement by consulting firm IDC, HUAWEI CLOUD's revenue more than tripled in the first quarter of 2019, making it the fastest growing among Chinese vendors.
ABB operates a full range of business activities in China, its second largest shopping mall, including development, production, sales and service. It employs 19,500 people in 131 cities and 44 local companies. In China, ABB has continuously improved its R&D capabilities through investment and layout optimization, with about 2,000 professionals dedicated to innovation in the local area, and ABB Ability™ has more than doubled its business in 2018.
In November 2018, ABB invested US$300 million to open an important innovation and production center in Xiamen, China. In October 2018, the company announced an investment of $150 million to build a new robot "factory of the future" in Shanghai, and opened a new robot use center in Chongqing in May 2018, which is the company's fourth robot use center in China.
