The Low Global Warming Potential solution (GWP) solution helps the world's cinema cold storage to achieve power, efficiency and environmental policies
SHANGHAI, China, April 8, 2021 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced that Honeywell Solstice® N40 (R-448A) low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant has been selected for the soon-to-open Beijing World Cinema to improve the energy efficiency of the refrigeration system, reduce the carbon footprint, and help the country achieve its emission reduction policy. Beijing World Cinema Theme Park is one of the main attractions of Beijing World Resort.
As the first cold storage customer in China to choose Honeywell Solstice N40 on a large scale, Beijing World Cinema has always adhered to high standards of energy efficiency and environmental protection standards while seeking excellent international management standards. The new system is expected to improve the energy efficiency of the project's cooling system by 10 to 15 percent.
Solstice N40 (R-448A) is a sophisticated, non-combustible substance with a lower GWP and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) compared to R-22, R-404A, and R-507A, which are used as refrigerants in current cold storage projects.
In order to meet the requirements of the Kigali Amendment for the phased reduction of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and in line with the government's initiative to save energy and reduce emissions, many cold storage warehouses in China are actively looking for reliable, useful alternative solutions that can help reduce the carbon footprint. Since its release in 2015, Honeywell Solstice N40 has been widely used by the global cold storage industry as a low-GWP refrigerant to replace R-404A/R-507A. More than 30,000 supermarkets around the world have used Honeywell Solstice N40 refrigerant. Compared to R-404A, the Solstice N40 is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 70% at Beijing World Studios.

Solstice N40 is an ASHRAE Class A1 (non-flammable) refrigerant with a GWP of only 1273, a 68% decrease compared to R-404A and R-507A (3943 GWP for R-404 and 3985 for R-507A), which can significantly improve the energy efficiency of the system and protect the environment.
The soon-to-be-opened Beijing World Cinema will become the fifth World Cinema theme park in the world and the third in Asia after Japan World Cinema and Singapore World Cinema.
