Introduction: The Fisher 4200 position transmitter can sense rotary or slide rod valves, drains, shock absorbers, or other devices. Once the instrument is installed, the potentiometer shaft is mechanically connected to the device to sense mechanical motion. The instrument is available with standard or long stroke capability for slide stem valve actuator applications. For long-stroke applications, a multi-turn potentiometer included with a stroke converter assembly is used to sense the linear motion of an actuator or other device. The instrument has standard features and can also be used with quarter-turn actuators.

Precision thin-film element potentiometers for standard strokes and precision multiturn wire wound potentiometers for long strokes provide excellent linearity by matching the range of the sensing element to the application.
To avoid the need for an external mechanical limit switch, the instrument with travel limit alarm incorporates a comparator circuit that monitors the voltage output of the inductive potentiometer.
The electronic travel restriction alert has an adjustable dead zone that can be adjusted up to 10% of the maximum range.
Even though the instrument comes with a travel restriction alarm, it requires very little space to be installed, making room for other equipment.
Simple hybrid electronics design combined with the highest quality discrete components and integrated circuits significantly improves reliability and performance.
The field wiring chamber is isolated from the electronic circuit chamber. Protects electronic circuits from moisture that enters the enclosure through the field wiring ports.
