The protection and viewing of inverters and soft starters is a useful means to prevent occasional equipment problems. In order to effectively protect and inspect the equipment, it is necessary to create a review inspection sheet, record and store the changes in the inherent characteristics of the equipment and the stability of the components, prevent problems, and investigate the cause of problems when they occur. At the beginning of the equipment, the inspection cycle should be shortened, and the detailed inspection should be carried out to prevent the initial problem, and after the operation time becomes longer, it is necessary to check whether the characteristics of the parts deteriorate.

                               Maintenance and overhaul of frequency converters and soft starters

1. Preview and protect the preparatory process of the operation

Abort the equipment → Main circuit power supply OFF → Control power supply OFF → Acknowledge the discharge of the main circuit power supply → Power inspection

2. Daily viewing

2.1 Viewing cycle: once a month.

2.2 View the project:

(1) Recognize the equipment environment: admit the temperature, humidity, whether there are special gases, and whether there is dust;

(2) Admit whether there is abnormal sound and oscillation of reactors, transformers, cooling fans, etc.;

(3) Acknowledging whether there is any peculiar smell, the smell of insulating materials and the unique smell of each circuit component;

(4) Acknowledge the dirty condition inside the equipment and reduce the cleaning cycle according to the dirty condition;

For the above items, the above items are mainly carried out by visual inspection, and repairs should be carried out immediately if there is an abnormality.

3. Check regularly

3.1 Check the cycle: according to the minor repair cycle of the unit.

3.2 Check the following items:

(1) Cleaning in the cabinet;

(2) Cleaning of the inside of the equipment;

(3) Recognition of discoloration, deformation, leakage (capacitors, resistors, reactors, transformers, etc.) of circuit components;

(4) Recognition and cleaning of substrates (discoloration and deformation of resistors and capacitors, discoloration, deformation, dirtiness, aging of welding, etc.) of substrates;

(5) Recognition of wiring (whether there is discoloration and corrosion caused by heating);

(6) Recognition of fastening parts (loosening of bolts, nuts, screws);

When inspecting the main circuit part of the device, it should be performed after disconnecting the input power supply for about 5 minutes or more, and after checking the electricity.

Please note that the capacitor inside the device will retain the charge for a period of time after disconnecting the input power supply, and there is a risk of electric shock.

In addition, in order to prevent electric shock accidents, do not open the door when the equipment is running.

4. Key points of protection

1. Clean the main circuit and control circuit

Protect, the first step to viewing is cleaning. Cleaning should be carried out according to the condition of the equipment. When cleaning, the dust in the equipment should be removed by attracting or purging after cutting off the power supply and acknowledging that there is no voltage in the main circuit. Note: If the compressed air pressure is too strong, it may damage components and wiring. In addition, the attachment that cannot be removed by purging should be wiped off with a cloth. As a general rule, cleaning starts from the upper part and is finished in the lower part. Dust and metal chips fall from above, and if you look at them from below, you will not be able to find and remove the falling objects from above.

2. Cabinets, structural supplies

(1) Cooling fan (at any time)

Admit whether there is any abnormality in the air volume and whether the noise of the fan increases. In particular, if you forget to tighten the bolts and other equipment when reinstalling the equipment after removal, you should be especially careful if you will damage the bearing blades due to oscillation.

(2) Main circuit components, the whole cabinet (1 time/month-1 time/year)

Check whether there is dust accumulation in the case, reactors, conductor fastening parts, stable wires, capacitors, and resistors for discoloration, heat, abnormal sound, odor, and damage.

Carefully check whether the wiring and equipment parts are broken, the disconnected wiring, the tightness is not loose, and whether there is any damage.

3. Printed circuit board

Printed circuit boards consisting of integrated circuits and electronic components need to be protected from dust, corrosive gases, temperature, etc. Therefore, the equipment environment of the device should be considered. In addition, it is also important to check the cleaning regularly and adhere to an excellent environment to reduce the number of problems.

Because the parts are small and the ability to resist external forces is poor, it is necessary to use a brush and other wiping tests when cleaning.

3.1 Use precautions

3.1.1 The protection of printed circuit boards must be carried out only after 5 minutes after all power supply is cut off and passed.

3.1.2 When removing the printed circuit board, all connectors and wires should be removed, and the fixing screws on the upper part of the printed circuit board should be removed.

3.1.3 At this time, care should be taken not to let the printed circuit board and fixing screws fall.

3.1.4 When the printed circuit board is equipped, it should be carried out in accordance with the reverse process when it was removed. ・

3.1.5 In addition, because the control circuit board has capacitors, even if the power supply is cut off, there are still some parts in operation. Save the aluminum frame with the aluminum frame downward, be careful not to short circuit.

5. The equipment checks the electronic development network of the protection operation process

1. Preparatory process:

Abort the equipment and admit that the motor is completely aborted.

Press the stop button on the operator panel to stop the operation.

Disconnect the external mains power supply (low-voltage cabinet drawer). Adequate security treatment should be carried out to ensure that disconnection is indeed carried out and that no misuse is generated.

Check to make sure the power indicator on the control and inverter (soft starter) panel is calmed.

Disconnect the control power air switch (safely).

Wait more than 5 minutes.

Open the door lock of the inverter (soft starter) cabinet and flip open the cabinet door.

Check the power at the input terminal of the main circuit to ensure that the voltage of the main circuit is at a safe level.

When the door of the inverter (soft starter) unit cabinet is opened, the LED lights of all the unit inverters (soft starters) are acknowledged to be closed.

Check that there is no voltage in the external cable terminations used to connect the control cabinet.

Check the control power input to make sure the control supply voltage is at a safe level.

Ground the three-phase input power supply at the main circuit input.

Start viewing and protecting.

(14) In the case of replacing the unit inverter (soft starter), please follow the instruction manual inverter (soft starter) operation manual.

2. Recovery process:

1. Remove the grounding wire of the main circuit.

2. Turn on the control power and close the door. If the control power is not connected, it will not operate.

3. Power the external main power supply (low-voltage cabinet drawer). When the external mains power is put on, it must be recognized that the indicator light on the control panel is on.

4. Carry out safety recognition and prepare for operation.
