As a result, routers can have multiple paths to balance the load and improve reliability.
4. Load concentration. Since there is only one path between switches, the information will be concentrated on a communication link, and the router has a routing protocol, which can be well avoided.
5. Broadcast domain control. The switch can only shrink the collision domain, not the broadcast domain. The router can isolate the broadcast domain so that broadcast packets cannot be broadcast through the router.
6. Subnet division. The switch can only recognize MAC addresses, which are physical addresses and have a flat address structure. Therefore, the switch cannot divide the subnet based on the MAC address. The router identifies the IP address, which can be assigned by the NMS or by itself, and is a logical address and has a hierarchical structure.
