After receiving the touch signal, the capacitive touch screen converts the touch data into electrical pulses and transmits it to the touch screen control IC for processing. The signal is amplified by a low-noise amplifier (LNA), then converted and demodulated by analog-to-digital ratio, and finally sent to a DSP for data processing.
Capacitive touch screens generally have M+N (M rows, N rows) physical capacitive touch sensors. These M+N interleaved sensors form the M*N capacitive sensing points, which change when the user's finger approaches the touchscreen. The spacing of the sensors (i.e., the distance between adjacent rows or columns) is usually around a few millimeters, and this separation distance determines the physical resolution of the touchscreen M*N.
The coordinate system between the capacitive touch screen module and the LCD module is completely different. The pixel coordinates of the LCD module are generally determined by its resolution, for example, a WVGA screen, its resolution is 800*480, that is to say, there are 800 lines, each row of 480 RGB pixels. Thus, a specific position can be determined by pixels (x,y) in the X and Y directions. Capacitive touchscreen modules, on the other hand, determine the coordinate system based on their original physical dimensions in the X and Y directions. There must be a reasonable mapping method between the two coordinate systems to ensure the correctness of the input and output operations.
Therefore, the DSP processor of the touch screen control IC also has to convert the pixel mapping between the capacitive touch screen module and the LCD module on the obtained data, so as to ensure that the touch point sensed by the user on the touch screen is the point pointed by the user.
In addition, in order to maintain the stability of the touch coordinates, the touch screen control IC needs to further process the jitter of the touch point, including the jitter of the finger and the noise of the capacitive data, and change the filtering coefficient of the low-pass filter according to the change of coordinates to achieve smooth processing of the coordinates.
Finally, software must be used to analyze the data and determine what function each touch is intended to use before it can be transmitted to the console. This process involves determining the size, shape, and location of the area to be touched on the screen. If necessary, the processor groups similar touches. If the user moves their finger, the processor calculates the difference between the start and end of the user's touch.
