The Fisher TBX-T desuperheater can be used in a variety of applications to effectively reduce the temperature of superheated steam to the ideal set point. The TBX-T can be installed in steam lines with diameters DN 200 to DN 1200 (NPS 8 to 48) and can maintain steam temperatures within a saturation temperature range of 6°C (10°F). In all steam conditioning applications, the atomization and vaporization of water is a key element. The TBX-T design combines nozzle headers for multiple forms of AF nozzles to produce optimal spray patterns over a wide operating range. These suitable nozzles were selected for optimal mixing and rapid vaporization under all flow conditions.

The TBX-T offers options including an integrated insulation lining inside the steam pipe. This construction is most commonly used in boiler interstage temperature control applications, where the desuperheater is exposed to vibrations caused by high thermal cycling and pressure, high steam velocity, and flow. When introducing cold water to equipment that has been heated to operating steam temperatures, the lining minimizes the chance of thermal shock.
