With over 30 years of automation and communications experience, Advantech recognizes that the need for media conversion is increasing and understands the difficulty of replacing or rewiring existing equipment. This new Advantech Fiber Optic Media Converter is especially suitable for users who want to meet their needs with minimal cost and effort.
With the ability to connect two different media types, these new media converters are easy to install, allowing the network to be put into use quickly. The EKI-2541/2741 series of media converters provides an ideal solution for "fiber-to-the-building" applications at central office or local sites by cost-effectively integrating fiber infrastructure and copper equipment, providing a cost-effective solution.
Typical applications include power and energy, transportation (ITS), machine and control automation, building automation, and factory automation.
The EKI-2541ML and EKI-2541SL feature 1 x 10/100Mbps Ethernet RJ-45 connector and 1 x 100Mbps multi/single-mode SC type fiber port. The EKI-2741ML/SL/FL provides a -45 connector with 1 x 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet port and 1 x 1000Mbps multi/singlemode SC fiber port for 1000-base SX/LX devices. Key features include:
1. MDI/MDI-X car crossover
Automatically detects whether the link partner is MDI or MDI-x. Auto-MDI/MDIX can be enabled or disabled. When the function is disabled, the port reverts to MDI mode.
2. SC fiber optic port
Optical fibers that are not affected by electromagnetic interference are typically used in electromagnetic interference noise environments, or copper wiring at distances of more than 100 meters. In addition, fiber optics are future-proof, as applications require higher speeds and distances, and fiber is the only cable type capable of supporting these requirements.
