Advantech, a major industrial company, recently announced that its board of directors has passed the ESG green power commitment, and Advantech Taiwan will use 50% green electricity by 2026 and 100% by 2032. At the same time, Advantech has also established an SPV (Special Purpose Project Company) with Microelectric Energy to hold about 10MW of solar power plants.
In order to achieve the goal of green power commitment, Advantech has selected to jointly establish an SPV with Microelectric Energy, and preliminarily selected Model District and Xuejia District in Tainan City as the construction sites for the power plant, with an estimated investment of 530 million yuan, and the green power output of the 10MW solar power plant can ensure Advantech's 50% commitment target by 2026.
Advantech said that in this investment in the solar power plant, Micro Power will not only incorporate Advantech's industrial IoT cloud platform WISE-PaaS into its cooperation platform, but will also further introduce the solar energy management solution SRP (Solution Ready Package) into the site to improve the operation and maintenance management and power generation efficiency of the site, and become an advanced cloud computing management platform for solar energy enterprises.
In addition, this cooperation with Micro Power is a small step in the practice of green energy carbon reduction, and Advantech plans to directly establish the BEMS (Building Energy Management System) and New Energy Solutions Business Unit in the fields of energy, power and environmental protection, so as to invest in the market in this area for a long time and become an important contribution to green energy and ESG.
Advantech emphasizes that its ESG mission is "a smart driver for a sustainable planet", and in recent years, it has been actively developing smart solutions that are beneficial to the environment, such as green energy storage and wind energy equipment operation and maintenance, and implementing building energy management and energy conservation and carbon reduction within the company. In addition to internal controls, it has recently been certified by SBTi for science-based carbon reduction targets, officially announcing its greenhouse gas reduction target for 2030.
