1 Introduction

Behind a beautiful string music, in addition to the musician's skill, the quality of the instrument, especially the sound quality of the strings, is very important.

In the early string making process, the operator's experience and techniques played a key role, resulting in the operator being difficult to cultivate, the sound quality of the strings was poor, and the musician's music production process was troubled.

The application of Lenze's overall automation system in the new string winding machine can achieve high-speed and stable control of string forming, and this article introduces Lenze's solution and application characteristics in the string winding machine.

2. The structure of the string winding machine equipment

Mechanically, it is divided into left and right winding shafts, as well as spools, support cylinders, armrest cylinders, etc.; The equipment adopts a two-layer structure and can operate independently; Depending on the actual processing of the strings, the speed of the winding shaft varies between 4000 and 8000 rpm.

Electrically, the P500 motion controller and the i700 servo system and the IO1000 system use high-speed EtherCAT bus communication; When the left and right winding shafts are programmed, Lenze's unique FAST technology module is used to synchronize the position of the left and right winding shafts with an imaginary axis. The cable system is positioned according to the actual product recipe chosen. The following figure is a schematic diagram of the system as a whole.

3 Lenze Solutions & Features

The string winding machine solution implemented by the Lenze automation system is shown in Figure 2 below. The configuration products mainly include:

P500 motion controller, MCA servo motor as well as MCS servo geared motor, remote IO, etc.

3.1 PackML Templates

The PackML template is the "packaging device language" of the OMAC organization; It provides a standard for automation systems, and devices that follow this standard can easily manage equipment, diagnose faults, and communicate with other devices; Figure 3 is an example of a PackML state machine implemented on Lenze's motion controller; Developers can program within the framework according to their needs to achieve modularization and process of software programs;

3.2 P500 Motion Controller

The P500 motion controller is an all-in-one machine that integrates logic control, motion control, and human-machine interface. The fanless as well as battery-free design guarantees its compact size; Built-in high-speed EtherCAT bus, which can be interconnected with servo system and IO system; The LAN port is used for computer diagnosis and communication with other motion controllers; The removable SD card allows for program writing flexibility. 3.3 i700 servo amplifier

The i700 servo amplifier adopts a common DC bus design, which is divided into two structural forms: single axis and double axis, the maximum output current of single axis can reach 64A, and the double axis can reach 32A each. The i700 itself does not need to be programmed, and all programs and parameters are stored in the upper P500, which ensures the flexibility of the i700 when it is replaced. The following figure is a schematic diagram of the structure of the i700 servo amplifier.

3.4 FAST Technology Module

In order to make engineering easier, engineers and customers want to spend more time optimizing their production processes. Based on this, Lenze has developed FAST technology modules for various typical applications, which have been verified by Lenze in a large number of practices and have rich interfaces, which can allow users to quickly and effectively realize the desired motion control form; The FAST technology templates used on this string winding machine include: a virtual spindle module, an electronic axis position following module, and a positioning module;
