SIMATIC S7—200 PLC is an open controller. It requires the installation of the S7-200 in the enclosure, cabinet or electrical control room. Only authorized personnel are allowed to enter the enclosure, cabinet, or electrical control room.
Failure to comply with these installation requirements can result in death or serious injury to personnel, and/or damage to equipment.
These requirements are always observed when installing the S7-200 PLC.
Isolate the S7-200 from heat sources, high voltage, and electronic noise
As a general rule, components are installed in such a way as to separate devices that generate high voltage and electronic noise from low-voltage, logic-type devices such as the S7-200.
When arranging the S7-200 on the back panel of the control cabinet, the heating device should be distinguished and the electronic devices should be arranged in the area with a lower temperature in the control cabinet. Operating electronics in a high-temperature environment reduces their time between failures.
Also consider the cabling of the devices in the panel. Avoid arranging low-voltage signal lines and communication cables in a trunking with AC power supply lines and high-energy, high-switching frequency DC lines.
Leave proper space for wiring and heat dissipation
The S7-200 device is designed with natural convection heat dissipation. There must be at least 25 mm of space above and below the device to allow for proper heat dissipation. The distance between the front panel and the back plate should also be at least 75 mm
