Troubleshooting method:

(1) Exclusion method:

When we are confronted with the fault phenomenon and analyze the problem, we have inadvertently learned to use the elimination method to determine the direction of the failure. This method refers to listing all possible faults as comprehensively as possible based on the observed fault phenomena, and then analyzing and eliminating them one by one. When eliminating, it is necessary to follow the principle of simplicity to complexity to improve efficiency. This approach can be used to deal with a wide variety of failures, but maintenance personnel need to have strong logical thinking and a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of industrial Ethernet switch knowledge.

(2) Comparison method:

The so-called comparison method is to use the existing, identical and normal industrial Ethernet switch as a reference object, and compare it with the faulty industrial Ethernet switch, so as to find out the fault point. This method is simple and effective, especially for system configuration failures, as a simple comparison can find the difference in configuration, but sometimes it is not easy to find an industrial Ethernet switch with the same model and configuration.

(3) Substitution method:

This is the method we use the most, and it's the one that is used more frequently to repair your computer. The replacement method refers to the method of replacing potentially faulty parts with normal industrial Ethernet switch parts, so as to find the point of failure. It is mainly used for diagnosing hardware faults, but it should be noted that the replacement parts must be the same brand and model of the same industrial Ethernet switch.

Analyze the failure according to the following principles:

1. From far to near

Port module - > horizontal cable - > jumper - > industrial Ethernet switch such a route, check one by one, and first eliminate the possibility of remote faults.

2. Outside-in

If there is a fault in the Industrial Ethernet switch, we can first identify it from the various indicators on the outside, and then check whether there is a problem with the corresponding parts inside according to the fault indication. For example, the POWER LED is green to indicate that the power supply is normal, and when it is off, it means that there is no power supply. The LINK LEDs are yellow to indicate that the connection is working at 10 Mb/s, green is 100 Mb/s, off means no connection, and flashing indicates that the port is manually closed by the administrator. RDP LEDs indicate redundant power supplies; The MGMT LED stands for Administrator Module. Regardless of whether the fault can be found from the outside, the Industrial Ethernet switch must be logged in to determine the specific fault location and take appropriate troubleshooting measures.

3. From soft to hard

In the event of a failure, no one wants to disassemble the industrial Ethernet switch with a screwdriver at every turn, so when inspecting, always start from the system configuration or system software to troubleshoot. If the software doesn't solve the problem, it's the hardware. For example, if a port is not usable, we can first check whether the port that the user is connected to is not in the corresponding VLAN, or whether the port is closed by other administrators, or other reasons in the configuration. If you rule out all the possibilities of the system and configuration, then you can suspect the real problem - hardware failure.

4. Easy first, then difficult

When encountering complex failure analysis, it is necessary to start with simple operations or configurations. This speeds up troubleshooting and increases efficiency.
