The 3RV2 circuit breakers are available with screw, spring-loaded or ring terminals, giving you the flexibility to choose the right wiring type for your application.

Functions of the Siemens 3RV2 circuit breaker

Installation

The 3RV2 circuit breaker can be snapped on a standard 35 mm rail.

The S00 and S0 sizes are available with 3RV29 28-0B lugs for direct screw attachment to the base plate.

Trippers

The 3RV2 motor protection circuit breaker is equipped with a reverse-time bimetallic thermal overload trip and an instantaneous overcurrent trip (electromagnetic short circuit trip).

The thermal overload trip current can be adjusted according to the load current. In order to start the motor without failing, the short-circuit trip current is fixed at 13 times the rated current of the circuit breaker.

In order to prevent tripping caused by higher transformer inrush currents, the circuit breaker for transformer protection on the power side is set to short-circuit trip current at 20 times the rated current of the transformer.

Trip level

The tripping rating of the thermal overload tripper is based on the tripping time at 7.2 times the cold operating current

(tA) (from IEC 60947-4 standard):

　　CLASS 10：4s < tA ≤ 10s

　　CLASS 20：6s < tA ≤ 20s

　　CLASS 30：9s < tA ≤ 30s

The motor protection circuit breaker must trip within that time frame.

Operating mechanism

The 3RV2 circuit breaker works by rotating the operating mechanism. When the circuit breaker trips, the rotary operating mechanism will switch to the "tripped" position to indicate it. Before the circuit breaker is re-closed, the rotary operating mechanism must be manually reset to the "0" position to prevent the circuit breaker from being misclosed before troubleshooting, after which the circuit breaker can be placed in the "I" position.

All rotary control mechanisms can be locked in the "0" position with a single padlock (padlock hook diameter 3.5 mm - 4.5 mm).

The isolation function of the 3RV2 circuit breaker complies with the standard IEC 60947-2.
