Honeywell/Honeywell SS490 series linear sensor integrated circuits

The SS490 series is a small, versatile, linear Hall-effect device that operates with a magnetic field provided by a permanent magnet or electromagnet. The proportional output voltage is set by the supply voltage and will vary depending on the strength of the magnetic field.

Integrated circuits provide improved temperature stability and sensitivity. The on-chip thin-film resistor is laser-corrected for high accuracy (up to ±% zero drift and up to ±3% sensitivity) and temperature compensation. When they monitor a single or two magnetic poles, they react to either positive or negative Gaussian.

Quad Hall sensing elements minimize the effects of mechanical and thermal stress on output. The sensitivity's positive temperature coefficient (+0.02%/°C typical) helps compensate for the negative temperature coefficient caused by economical magnets, enabling a rugged and reliable design over a wide temperature range. Rail-to-rail operation (over the entire voltage range) provides more available signals to guarantee higher accuracy.

These products have an operating temperature range of -40°C to 150°C [-40°F to 302°F] and are suitable for industrial and automotive environments.

The SS490B version offers a cost-effective sensing solution with slightly larger zero point and sensitivity tolerances and a higher temperature drift than the SS490A series of high-performance products. The SS490A and SS490B versions have a typical sink and current source with a continuous output of 1.5 mA, operate at 25°C, 7 mA, 5.0 volts, and supply current with predictable performance over temperature.
