Advantech and Omron have reached an agreement to acquire an 80% stake in Omron Nohgata

According to reports,AdvantechAn agreement has been reached with Omron to acquire an 80% stake in Omron Nohgata, a subsidiary of Omron Corporation. Advantech and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Advantech Japan, will hold 50% and 30% of the shares, respectively. Omron Nohgata will be led by the current management team and will join Advantech's embedded IoT business team to develop new products and integrate sales resources. Through this acquisition, Advantech will effectively expand its embedded system market share in Japan and improve its local manufacturing service capabilities. Founded in 1966, Omron Nohgata specializes in high-mix and low-volume custom embedded design services in Fukuoka, Japan, primarily serving customers in western Japan. Upon completion of the transaction, OMRON Nohgata will be renamed "Advantech Nohgata".

"Japan is a strategic market for IoT business opportunities," said Miller Chang, president of the Embedded IoT Group. "We see a huge opportunity in both industrial and IoT markets, given the strong and advanced demand in them." Industrial customers in Japan bring steady demand and moderate growth to the embedded systems market every year. OMRON Nohgata's core business is currently providing design and manufacturing services (DMS) to customers in the field such as healthcare, the industrial robotics industry and machine builders. In the future, Advantech will cooperate with Advantech's Tokyo office to leverage its advantages in centralized component procurement, embedded computing design, and WISE-PaaS IoT platform to expand its business scope. We believe that this acquisition will greatly enhance Advantech's competitiveness in Western Japan and increase Advantech's domestic market share in Western Japan."
