Is your identification task time-sensitive, small amount of data, and need to use a lean topology? With the IO-Link solution, you don't need to use any separate processing units on site. The read/write head is connected to the standardized and stand-alone IO-Link interface via a simple, unshielded 3-conductor sensor cable. The easiest way to do this is to install via a plug-and-play function, so that there is no need to use functional modules.

Application examples
The RFID read/write head reads both sides of the corner data carrier. Both products are designed for installation on standard pallet systems and standard rail systems for workpieces. For this purpose, RFID read/write heads are connected to IO-Link master units, each of which can be connected to up to four IO-Link devices. The data is supplied to the higher-level control system via Profibus.
If space is limited, a small read/write head with a separate controller unit is preferred.

Components that are automatically identified using IO-Link
For automated identification based on IO-Link, you only need three components:
■The data carrier stores the data of the target object through the system, and can provide a variety of different structural forms
■IO-Link-enabled read/write heads of the content controller, which act as an interface to the data carrier, provide data protection and provide information via the IO-Link interface
■An IO-Link master unit with four IO-Link master ports is available to communicate with the control system via a fieldbus
