SCHMERSAL proximity switches (proximity sensors) use the sensitive characteristics of sensors to close objects to detect the proximity of objects and control the switch in a non-touch state.
Among the commonly used proximity switches, according to the principle of induction, proximity switches can be divided into high-frequency vibration type, magnetic induction type, and electrostatic capacitance type.
Proximity switches are mainly used in OEM occupations such as packaging machinery, machine tools, elevators, electronic manufacturing equipment, food machinery and lifting machinery, as well as project-based occupations such as automobiles, electric power, public facilities, chemical industry, metallurgy, etc., and have a high degree of overlap with the application fields of photoelectric switches.
The working principle of the inductive proximity switch
An inductive sensor consists of three parts: a vibrator, a switching circuit, and an enlarged output circuit. An alternating magnetic field occurs in the vibrator. When the metal guide is close to this magnetic field and reaches the sensing distance, eddy currents occur in the metal guide, resulting in vibration attenuation and even vibration stopping. The changes in vibration and stop vibration of the vibrator are processed by the post-amplification circuit and converted into a switching signal, which triggers the drive control equipment, so as to achieve the purpose of non-touch detection.
