Introduction: The large SCARA robot YK-XG series adopts the ZR axis direct coupling structure to achieve a completely beltless structure. This direct drive structure greatly reduces the waste of movement. It also maintains high accuracy for a long time. It ensures long, maintenance-free use without worrying about belt breakage, stretching, or deterioration with age (this feature is available for all XG series models and YK180X/YK220X).
Product Details
1. The internal structure achieves high rigidity and high precision.
2. Completely beltless structure
A completely belt-free structure is achieved with a ZR shaft direct coupling structure. This direct drive structure greatly reduces the waste of movement. It also maintains high accuracy for a long time. It ensures long, maintenance-free use without worrying about belt breakage, stretching, or deterioration with age (this feature is available for all XG series models and YK180X/YK220X).
3. High speed
The standard cycle time is certainly fast, but the Yamaha design also emphasizes the cycle time of the actual use area. The maximum speed has been significantly improved by changing the gear ratio and the maximum motor speed. This also results in better cycle times in long distance movements.
4. Improved maintenance function
The lid of the Yamaha SCARA Robot YK-XG series can be removed from the front or upwards. The lid is separated from the cable, so maintenance tasks are easy.
On a normal robot, it takes a lot of time and trouble to change the grease on the harmonic gears, as the gears have to be disassembled and positional deviations may occur. However, on the Yamaha SCARA robot, the harmonic gear is a grease-sealed type, so there is no need to change the grease (YK-500XG to YK1000XG).
5. Robot R-axis moment of inertia capacity
The performance of SCARA robots is not limited to standard cycle times. Actual working conditions include a variety of heavy workpieces as well as work with large offsets. The use of a low R-axis moment of inertia in these cases will help to significantly reduce the cycle time. All Yamaha SCARA robots have a reducer that is coupled directly to the tip of the axis of rotation. The R-axis generates an extremely high allowable moment of inertia and provides high-speed operation compared to structures that are usually positioned by a belt after deceleration.
Allowable moment of inertia on the R-axis: YK120XG comparison with competitor models
When the offset from the R-axis to the center of load is large, a large inertia is generated, which severely limits the acceleration during operation.
Compared to SCARA robots from other companies in its class, the allowable moment of inertia of the YAMAHA XG series is very large, so it can operate at high speeds even with work offset.

6. Compact
Change the cable layout so that the overall cable height is lower than the unit cover.
In addition, the use of a motor with a small overall length and an extrusion material base achieves the smallest size in its class.
7. The rugged resolver provides closed-loop control
Position detectors are resolvers. Resolvers have a simple yet robust construction that does not use electronic components or components, so they have excellent features such as being extremely robust in harsh environments and low breakdown rates. The resolver construction is free of the detection problems found in other detectors, such as optical encoders that fail electronic components or are stuck to the disk by moisture or oil. In addition, the mechanical specifications of the absolute and incremental specifications are common to all controllers, so you can switch to the absolute or incremental specifications by simply setting the parameters.
In addition, even if the absolute battery is completely worn, the SCARA can operate to incremental specifications, so in the unlikely event of a failure, one can rest assured that there is no need to stop the production line. The backup circuit has been completely refurbished and the backup period is now extended to 1 year.
The structure of the novel resolver is simple and does not use electronic components at all. It is highly resistant to low and high temperatures, shocks, electrical noise, dust particles, oil, etc., and is used. In cars, trains, and planes.
8. Zone control (= automatic setting of maximum acceleration/deceleration) function
On SCARA robots, there is a big difference in the load applied to the motor and reducer, depending on whether the robot arm is folded or extended. However, the Yamaha SCARA robot can automatically set the optimal maximum acceleration and deceleration using the arm state at the beginning of operation and the arm state at the end of operation. This capability means that only the initial payload needs to be entered to prevent the robot from exceeding the tolerance values of the peak torque of the motor and the allowable peak torque of the reducer. As a result, full power can be extracted from the motor when needed and a high level of acceleration/deceleration can be maintained.
9. Hollow shaft and tool flange options are available
Useful options include a hollow shaft for easy attachment to the tool-tip tool, and a tool flange for tool clamping.
10, 30 years of history
The first Yamaha robots were SCARA robots. Since the production of the first SCARA robot called "CAME" in 1979, SCARA robot innovation has continued to emerge for about 30 years. These SCARA robots have undergone numerous modifications in an ever-changing market and have amassed a large number of successful products that have made them an important part of YAMAHA's robot lineup.
