At SPS 2022 in Nuremberg, Siemens introduced the new generation of Scalance XC-/XR-300 series Industrial Ethernet switches. As more and more machines, controls, and IT systems are connected to the network in industrial production, the network at the production level is becoming more cluttered. The Scalance XC-/XR-300 series from Siemens is the answer to the need for high-performance Industrial Ethernet switches with multiple ports and high bandwidth for reliable data exchange. The Layer 2 switches in the series are available now and are available in two versions, the compact version and the 19-inch rack version for the control cabinet.

The new generation of Scalance XC-/XCM-300 and Scalance XR-/XRM-300 series switches feature a high port density and support the connection of multiple devices within a large network infrastructure. Thanks to high-bandwidth ports (data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s), the new generation of Ethernet switches also supports a wide range of OT networks such as data, voice, video, and Profinet.
Industrial companies will also benefit from the relocation of the new generation of switches. The relocation applies to all models of the Scalance XC-/XR-300 series launched after 2022 with the same operating system, as well as the Scalance XCM-/XRM-300 series with the new operating system. Both operating systems can be updated via software upgrades, which means that users can get used to new and changing requirements without having to change equipment. In the future, the software update of the new operating system will also be faster and more convenient.
Time-sensitive networks make industrial networks more sensitive and secure
In the future, Siemens' Scalance XCM-300 and Scalance XRM-300 series switches will support even more innovative skills such as time-sensitive networking (TSN), edge functionality, and seamless redundancy to further improve real-time communication and security. The series also has integrated security functions such as SSH and SSL protocols, which can further ensure network security and avoid unauthorized network visits and equipment.
