Even if you don't have SIMATIC STEP 7 Basic software and don't know the IP address, you can use the SIMATIC MC memory card to remove the IP address and reset the S7-1200 to factory settings (including firmware V2.1.2).

Disable Write Protection Make sure that the memory card is not write-protected. To do this, you move the protection switch out of the locked position.

Use an empty memory card There are two ways to get an empty memory card.

Use a new, empty SIMATIC MC memory card from Siemens.

If your SIMATIC MC memory card is not empty, delete the SIMATIC. S7S" folder and "S7_JOB. S7S" file, e.g. using Windows Explorer.

How to delete an IP address

Follow the steps below to remove the IP address and reset your S7-1200 to factory settings, including firmware V2.1.2.

1. Insert an empty memory card in your S7-1200.

2. Turn the S7-1200 off and back on.

This will reboot the S7-1200. After rebooting and re-evaluating the SIMATIC MC memory card and load memory, this means that the device configuration, including IP addresses, user programs, and all force values, is copied to the memory card. The memory card becomes a program card that contains the data and IP address that were previously stored in the internal load memory. Once the replication process is complete, the S7-1200's internal loading memory will be removed. The S7-1200 now switches to the configured operating mode to start (run or stop).

Once the process is complete, the S7-1200's service light will flash indicating that you can remove the memory card.

3. Remove the memory card from the S7-1200.

4. Turn the S7-1200 off and back on.

The internal load memory including the IP address has now been removed and the S7-1200 to firmware V2.1.2 have been reset to factory settings.
