Honeywell/Honeywell APS00B Angle Sensor IC

Honeywell's APS00B high-resolution angular position sensor IC (integrated circuit) is a miniature surface-mount electronic component designed for angular or rotational displacement sensing in saturated magnetic fields.

The APS00B generates an analog output voltage that varies with the direction of the magnetic flux passing through the surface of the sensor IC. It contains a Whiston double bridge in saturation mode that produces an orthogonal (sine and cosine) signal to provide an extended angular measurement range of up to 180°.

This product provides a cost-effective and space-saving solution for high-volume OEM designs. Potential applications include position detection, rotational speed and angle detection, and non-contact precision position measurement systems.

The APS00B sensor IC incorporates Honeywell's anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) technology to provide significant advantages over Hall-effect magnetic sensors. They have a resolution of better than one-tenth of a degree or one-tenth of a millimeter, can withstand large gap changes between magnet and sensor, and are insensitive to shock and vibration. Honeywell's magnetic sensors are among the most sophisticated and reliable in the industry.

These surface-mount devices can be mounted directly on the electronic profile of a PC (printed circuit) board. Automatic reflow soldering allows these sensors to be attached to the circuit board without the need for holes, thus reducing the cost of printed circuit boards (PCBs).
