On January 6, Danfoss Group announced that it would invest in the construction of the "Danfoss Global Refrigeration R&D and Testing Center" in Wuqing District, Tianjin.
The new test centre will be completed by the end of next year, and will be dedicated to the development and testing of inverter skills for refrigeration and air-conditioning compressors, the use of heat pumps, and the replacement of environmentally friendly refrigerants. Equipped with top-of-the-line skills, this testing channel will provide Danfoss commercial compressor customers around the world with professional skills and services, especially in the development of refrigeration products such as green refrigerants.
The new test center will have an important impact on Danfoss' global R&D layout and the green development of the refrigeration industry. Once completed, the center will significantly enhance the company's innovative capabilities, provide strong hardware support for refrigeration product development and long-term skill reserves, and further consolidate the company's leading position in the global refrigeration industry.
The launch of the Danfoss Global Refrigeration R&D and Test Center project benefited from the strong support of the Tianjin Municipal Government, especially the Wuqing District Government. China is the second home market of Danfoss, and in recent years, we have continuously increased our investment in research and development in the Chinese market, and China has become one of the most important bases in Danfoss' global research and development territory. We look forward to the joint efforts of both sides, Wuqing will become the bridgehead in the field of Danfoss global commercial compressor development and production.
This project opens up a new model for Danfoss to work with local governments. According to the plan, the government of Wuqing Development Zone will build nearly 7,000 square meters of factory buildings on the designated plot, and Danfoss will lease it by leasing it, and invest nearly 50 million yuan to add new professional testing and development equipment.

Danfoss Wuqing's existing commercial compressor R&D center was established in 2009, and since 2013, it has been determined as a national high-tech enterprise. In 2019, it also obtained the qualification of "Tianjin Enterprise Skills Center", and in 2020, it was identified as "Tianjin Science and Technology Leading Enterprise" by Tianjin Science and Technology Bureau.
Tianjin, as the home base of Danfoss' second home market, is crucial to the company's business development. In the future, the company will further increase its investment in Wuqing:
On the one hand, we will vigorously introduce high-end talents in the fields of Internet of Things, structural design, engineering simulation and additive production from the outside, and at the same time increase talent training efforts internally, and cooperate with Tianjin University, Hebei University of Technology and other universities and research organizations to train internal skill experts in a targeted manner.
The company will also increase investment according to the existing software resources and cooperate with internationally renowned software companies to explore the establishment of digital twin models for product development and protection, and establish Danfoss digital research and development channels by virtue of the Internet of Things and the supercomputer of the National Supercomputing Center in Tianjin, and finally complete the transformation of the research and testing center from an internal research and development organization to an "export-oriented" research and development organization.
