On June 30, Korea's LS Electric Co., Ltd. announced that it had acquired a 19% stake in Quinlan New Energy Technology Changzhou Co., Ltd. (Changzhou Quinlan), a subsidiary of Beijing Quinlan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Quinlan"), a Chinese PCS company, for 10.52 million yuan, officially entering the Chinese ESS market.
Due to the outbreak of the epidemic, face-to-face communication was not possible, and Gu Zijun, chairman of LS Electric Group, was at the Korea headquarters of LS Building, Zhu Baoyi, president of Nandu Power, and Yu Zhonglan, chairman of Kunlan, were at LS Electric's Shanghai headquarters to conduct a "cross-border cloud signing" through online video.
This contract is also following the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between LS Electric and Nandu Power last year.
In December 2018, LS Electric signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Nandu Power to cooperate in the fields of integrated energy services and resource recovery. The purpose of this tripartite cooperation is to enter the Chinese ESS market and officially acquire the shares of Changzhou Quinlan, a subsidiary of Quinlan, thus officially launching the PCS business in the Chinese market.
In 2018, LS Electric launched the "Modular Expandable PCS", which is equipped with advanced modular PEBB (Power Electronic Component Unit), each module has an independent operation function, and can connect up to 16 modules in parallel, which greatly improves the scalability, stability and economic benefits. According to the agreement, LS Electric will export PEBB, the core component of PCS, to Quinlan, Changzhou, which is equipped with batteries from Nandu Electric Power, and the assembled products of ESS will also be exported to other parts of China.
This cooperation is to meet the fast-growing demand of China's ESS market, while achieving local production of high-quality PCS, and cooperate with Nandu Power, Changzhou Kunlan, etc., to maximize synergies and increase the local ESS market share, and the company is also considering directly driving business orders.
After taking a stake in Changzhou Quinlan, LS Electric also plans to add 3.83 million yuan of production lines and testing equipment to Changzhou Quinlan, and send a large number of Korea technicians to ensure that the PCS products produced in Changzhou Quinlan are comparable to the PCS products sold in the Korea market and have high quality competitiveness.
