In 2014, a group of engineers and roboticists co-founded Jieka Robot, an AI robotics startup that hopes to "win" in the robotics industry. JAKA (Just Always Keep Amazing) is an entrepreneur who encourages himself and rejects mediocrity. The company strives to make amazing products, so that Jackah's robots can be "popularized in every corner of the world".

In July this year, Jieka Robot completed the D round of financing co-led by Temasek, Danming, SoftBank Vision Fund II and Saudi Aramco's diversified venture capital fund Prosperity7 Ventures, with a financing amount equivalent to about RMB 1 billion.

▌The rapid rise of collaborative robots

In the global industrial robot market, the "four families" occupied a dominant position. However, as "human-machine integration" has become an important development trend, collaborative robots, as robots that can work together with humans and interact at close range, have ushered in development opportunities, and are an emerging track for robots that have developed rapidly in recent years. Founded in 2014, the card saving robot was born and grew in this trend.

"The development of the collaborative robot industry is only about 10 years ago, which is not too long. The main reason is that the demand on the market side has changed. On the one hand, labor costs are becoming more and more expensive, and on the other hand, back-end manufacturing and other fields require human-machine collaboration. Chang Li, vice president of Jieka Robot, pointed out.

"Cobots don't need to be equipped with a certain safety fence, and the working space is smaller, which is more efficient for the factory. Industrial robots are more unmanned and physically isolated from people. At the same time, in terms of energy, cobots consume only one-third of the electricity of industrial robots, and the cost is lower. Chang Li explained.

From the perspective of specific application scenarios, collaborative robots and traditional industrial robots are complementary and coexistent. Taking the automotive industry as an example, a car needs to go through five workshops to produce it: stamping, welding, spraying, final assembly, and powertrain. The first three workshops pay attention to high-efficiency large-scale manufacturing, mainly traditional industrial robots. The latter two workshops involve a large number of manual scenarios, which have become the demand points for collaborative robots.

In the current Chinese industrial robot market, collaborative robots show a strong growth momentum. According to data from the GGII Industry Research Institute, the total shipments of collaborative robots in the Chinese market in Q2 2022 will be 4,678 units, a year-on-year increase of 8.77%; 3,959 units were made in China, accounting for 85.54%; 669 foreign-funded units, accounting for 14.46%.

"The application of 'collaboration + industry' is still in a period of rapid development. At present, the annual sales volume of the company's products has maintained multiple growth. Chang Li revealed to reporters.

▌The density of robots in China is only half that of Korea

In addition to guarding the domestic market, robot manufacturers have gradually extended some markets to overseas in the past two years. Up to now, Jieka Robot has set up service teams in Asia, Europe, North America and other places to better serve global customers.

On October 26th, Jieka Robot officially released the Jieka MiniCobo and Jieka Pro series collaborative robots for overseas markets.

"The Japan market is a major focus of the company's overseas layout, mainly to meet the business needs of Japanese car companies." Chang Li revealed to reporters, "The second key market is Europe and Germany. China, Japan and Europe, as the world's three major robot industrial clusters, with the gradual landing of business, the precipitation of robot technology in overseas countries will promote the company's entire ability level to improve. ”

From the perspective of subdivided industries, the main scenarios for the landing of the card-saving robot are in the field of industrial manufacturing, covering automotive, consumer electronics, semiconductors, industrial electronics, as well as food processing and precision manufacturing industries.

According to data from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), the density of robots in China in 2020 was 246 units per 10,000 people, rising from 25th to 9th. According to the "14th Five-Year Plan" for the development of the robot industry, by 2025, the average annual growth rate of robot industry revenue will exceed 20%, and the density of manufacturing robots will increase by 100%, that is, more than 450 units per 10,000 people.

Chang Li believes that "there is still a lot of room for the development of robots in China." ▌The application potential of robots in the tertiary industry is huge

In addition to the industrial field, robots also have a large space for expansion in the field of commercial consumption. This Hongqiao community AI canteen covers an area of about 133.74 square meters, including a self-service production area, an unmanned noodle stall area, a self-service settlement area, an online ordering cabinet pick-up area, a data middle platform area, and a smart snack machine, which can realize batch meal delivery. The self-service production area can cook more than 1,000 dishes, and the intelligent cooking system will automatically identify the ingredients according to the menu of the day, fry and steam, collect the juice and return the temperature, and can complete the cooking of 100 dishes at the same time.

"This kind of community canteen, focusing on serving and ensuring the dining needs of the elderly in the community, is a way to solve the problem of aging. Compared with traditional canteens, AI canteens can avoid potential hidden dangers of third-party operation or food safety through digital management and fully unmanned cooking, and save labor costs. In addition, there is also a potential demand for robots in tertiary service industries such as education, catering, and medical care, which is expected to promote the rapid improvement of the quality and category of the robot industry.

"The demand for education is growing rapidly, and the specific demand can be divided into four parts: scientific research in colleges and universities, educational application of undergraduate professional courses, skilled personnel training in higher vocational colleges, and youth education." In the field of catering, the value of robots is mainly to reduce labor costs. Chang Li cites a café as an example. "Judging from the ratio of store personnel in Starbucks and Luckin Coffee, the store of almost 30 square meters is equipped with 6-8 employees, divided into operations, coffee, cashier and other positions, and each store robot can replace at least two people, including coffee making and automatic cashiering. The metaverse and robots promote each other

At present, the metaverse technology represented by AR/VR is combined with industrial robots to create remote solutions for intelligent manufacturing, bringing reverie space for the landing of the industrial metaverse.

At the 2022 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Jieka Robot released the "Jieka Metaverse Inclusive Interaction System", which uses the scene camera to transmit the on-site environment to the metaverse device in real time, so that users can see the live situation of the work site in the virtual digital space, and remotely control the synchronous operation of the robot in the physical world through VR handle and gesture recognition.

Chang Li introduced that this set of solutions is mainly used in industry, construction, medical and other fields. "Our original intention of doing the metaverse is mainly for some special scenarios, such as more dangerous and hard-to-reach areas, or positions that are difficult for enterprises to recruit.
