1. Choose the right signal type
There are two types of signals for industrial cameras: analog and digital. The analog camera must have an image grabber, the standard analog camera resolution is very low, generally 768*576, and the frame rate is also fixed, 25 frames per second, the acquisition is an analog signal, which is converted into a digital signal by the digital capture card for transmission and storage. Digital cameras capture digital signals, which are not affected by electrical noise, so they have a higher dynamic range and are able to transmit more precise signals to the computer.
In addition, analog signals can be distorted due to electromagnetic interference from other equipment in the plant, such as electric motors or high-voltage cables. As the noise level increases, the dynamic range (the ratio of the original signal to the noise) of the analog camera decreases. Dynamic range determines how much information can be transmitted from the camera to the computer.
2. Choose the right resolution
First of all, the accuracy of the target is determined, and then the resolution is selected based on the accuracy. However, in order to increase the stability of the system, it is not necessary to use only one pixel unit for one measurement/observation accuracy value, but to choose a multiple of 4 or higher. In this way, the camera needs a unidirectional resolution of 1000, and 1.3 million pixels is enough.
Then look at the output of the industrial camera, if it is asana observation or machine software analysis and recognition, the higher the resolution, the better; If it is VGA output or USB output, it also depends on the resolution of the display, no matter how high the resolution of the industrial camera, the resolution of the display is not enough, it is meaningless; Take advantage of the memory card or the camera function, and try to choose a high-resolution camera.
To choose the right resolution, you need to choose the size of the camera resolution according to the needs of the system, usually the pixel accuracy of the system is equal to the field of view (length or width) divided by the camera resolution (length or width).
3. Choose the right chip
Industrial cameras are divided into two types: CCD and CMOS. If you want to shoot an object that is moving, and the object you want to work with is also an object that is moving in real time, then of course a camera with a CCD sensor is the most suitable. However, CMOS cameras produced by some manufacturers can also be used as CCDs if they use the frame exposure method.
Although it is a CMOS sensor, it is no worse than the CCD when shooting moving objects, and if the speed of the object movement is very slow, the distance of the object movement is very small within the exposure time range of the camera we set, and the converted pixel size is within one or two pixels, then it is also suitable to choose a CMOS camera.
CCD industrial cameras still dominate vision inspection solutions, but CMOS industrial cameras are becoming more and more widely used with lower cost and lower power consumption.
Fourth, choose a powerful manufacturer
The most important thing for an industrial camera is to see the image effect of the acquisition. The good effect can be seen even by a person who doesn't understand it at all, and the good and bad can be distinguished. Qualified customers can actually inspect it, so that they can understand the industrial camera more thoroughly, and can also see the real product quality and strength of this company, which has a great role in promoting their choice.

Cognex Barcode Readers—Ten Reasons Why You Should Choose an Image Barcode Reader
1. Read rate
The read rate is the most important way to measure a handheld computer. The read rate is the number of barcodes read divided by the total number of barcodes attempted to be read. It is usually expressed as a percentage, with the closer to 100% the better. That is, the read rate is a measure of how much the reader reads the application.

Cognex Camera - Introduction to the main parameters of the lens of industrial camera
The main parameters of the lens
1. Focal Length
Focal length is the distance between the center point of the lens and the clear image formed on the glue plane. The size of the focal length determines the size of the viewing angle, the small value of the focal length, the large angle of view, and the large range of observation; The focal length value is large, and the angle of view ...

Cognex Vision Systems – The five design elements of a machine vision system
1. Stability of lighting
Industrial vision applications generally fall into four categories: positioning, measurement, inspection, and identification. Among them, the measurement requires the highest photostability, because as only 10-20% of the light changes, the measurement result can deviate by 1-2 pixels. It's not a software issue ...
