In the TWh era, the production capacity of power batteries has been expanded on a large scale, and battery companies have higher and higher requirements for the safety, performance and quality control of battery products. Among them, the requirements for improving the production efficiency of power batteries and extreme manufacturing have put forward higher requirements and challenges for machine vision in terms of detection accuracy, detection speed, image transmission, and defect analysis. An obvious change is that the traditional 2D machine vision technology can no longer meet the needs of power batteries in the manufacturing process innovation and defect detection upgrades.

For example, 2D machine vision technology is a little inadequate in the detection of defects such as explosion point, broken welding, bulge, concave welding, discontinuity, pinhole, offset, crack, and flanging involved in the cell top cover welding process. 3D vision has ushered in a large-scale introduction period in the field of power batteries by increasing the depth information of physical space on the basis of traditional 2D vision. It has become an important part of lithium battery machine vision.
