Oil- and water-resistant housing
In the past, barcode readers could easily be damaged by oil and liquids around the reading station, but the DataMan 8700 is designed to withstand the most demanding environments for long periods of time. It has an IP67-rated enclosure and meets ISO 16750-5 oil resistance standards. It can be immersed in water to a depth of one metre without damage and can withstand 50 drops from a height of 2.5 metres on concrete floors.
Excellent read performance in milliseconds
The DataMan 8700DX model features the latest patented decoding algorithms, HDR technology, high-speed liquid lenses, and a multi-core processor to read barcodes in less than 150 milliseconds. The integration of diffuse, polarization, and direct illumination results in a high-quality image that enables easy reading of dot peeps, laser etchings, and label codes on challenging (reflective, cylindrical, dark) surfaces without hot spots.

The DataMan 8700 offers a first-of-its-kind OLED display that is easy to set up without the need for a computer and provides fast and intuitive feedback to the operator.
