What is an industrial computer? What does U mean in IPC?
Industrial computer generally refers to the industrial control accounting machine, which is a general term for tools that use the bus structure to detect and control the production process, electromechanical equipment and process equipment. The industrial computer has important attributes and characteristics of the accounting machine, such as the CPU, hard disk, memory, peripherals and interfaces of the accounting machine, and has the operating system, control network and protocol, accounting ability, and friendly man-machine interface.
At present, the main categories of industrial computers are: IPC (PC bus industrial computer), PLC (programmable control system), DCS (distributed control system), FCS (fieldbus system) and CNC (numerical control system) five kinds.
During this period, the height specification of the industrial computer is based on U as a unit, and its specific scale is formulated by the United States Electronics Industry Association. The canonical height of 1U is 1.75 inches, which is about 4.445 centimeters. Nowadays, the common scale is 1U, 2U and 4U, and every 1U difference is a difference of 4.445 cm. The 4U chassis has a large space and many air holes, and the heat dissipation is much better than the 2U chassis with relatively small space. If the temperature of the chassis is too high, it will simply affect the performance of the chassis, so heat dissipation is an important reference condition in the selection of industrial computer chassis and server chassis. In addition, if there are many internal accessories in the chassis, you need to choose a larger 4U chassis.
Similarly, the scale of the industrial control cabinet also adopts this general industrial specification, usually 22U to 42U, which can sensitively adjust the height according to the elevation of the industrial computer to store server chassis, industrial computer chassis, and hub equipment.
