Eaton Cummins Automatic Transmission Technologies announced that its Endurant HD™ 12-speed automatic transmission – the lightest and most efficient 1,850 lb-ft heavy-duty transmission on the market – is now available in all major northern United States truck manufacturers, including International, Freightliner, Volvo, Peterbilt and Kenworth.
The Endurant HD offers a number of advantages over competitive heavy-duty automatic transmissions, including industry-exclusive transmission hydraulic sensors, longest maintenance intervals, and optimal overall ratio coverage for low-speed maneuverability and deceleration.
"We work closely with our engine partners to provide customized solutions that meet our customers' needs," said Charles Masters, general manager of Eaton's Cummins Automatic Transmission Technology Division. "In any case, the powertrain – engine and transmission – is highly efficient and provides a low-cost of ownership experience for the fleet."
The engine and transmission powertrain mix varies by truck manufacturer:
The Endurant HD paired with the Cummins X15™ engine is available for the Kenworth T680; Peterbilt 579;International ® LoneStar ®, LT ® series, and RH™ series; Freightliner Cascadia ® ; and Volvo VNL.
The Endurance HD and Cummins X12™ powertrains are among the lightest in their class and are available for the Freightliner Cascadia.
The Endurant HD and International ® A26 engine combo is available in the International LoneStar; LT series; and RH series.
The Freightliner Cascadia is equipped with Endurant HD and Detroit™ DD13 ® engine powertrains.
The standard Endurant HD transmission warranty for long-haul commercial vehicles is 5 years/750,000 miles. The clutch supplied by Eaton is backed by a 3-year/350,000-mile warranty. One-year and two-year extended protection plans are also available. The Endurant HD has a maximum operating weight (GCVW) of 110,000 pounds. (49,895 kg); 510 hp (375 kW) maximum horsepower; The oil capacity is 16 pints (7.5L).
