Product Description

Fieldbus standards require buses to be terminated at both ends to prevent signal reflections. In many applications, a terminator is built into the power conditioner, usually located in the vicinity of the control system. The second terminator is either integrated into a Megablock or fieldbus barrier wiring assembly, or added as a separate DIN rail mounting unit.

The Crouse-Hinds Series MTL Series Fieldbus Terminations are ideal for supplying terminators (as well as Megablocks for interconnected devices) that are typically installed in field junction boxes. A large "T" is placed on all finalizer labels to make it easier to identify the finalizer location.

Some differential-mode and common-mode (cable shielding) overvoltage protection is available

The ground connection on the fieldbus terminator is used to shunt any inrush current that may reach the cable shield to a local ground in the junction box. While it is common practice to ground the cable shield in the control room, this additional ground connection does not create a ground loop.

If there is an overpressure in the cable shield, the gas discharge tube will catch fire and shunt this unwanted current to the ground
