Rotor windings of a three-phase asynchronous motor
Function: Cutting the stator to rotate the magnetic field to generate induced electromotive force and current, and form electromagnetic torque to rotate the motor.
Construction: It is divided into squirrel cage rotor and wound rotor.
(1) Squirrel cage rotor: The rotor winding is composed of a plurality of guide bars inserted into the rotor slot and two ring end rings. If the rotor core is removed, the shape of the whole winding resembles a squirrel cage, so it is called a cage winding. The small cage motor adopts cast aluminum rotor winding, and for the motor above 100KW, it is welded with copper strip and copper end ring.
(2) Winding rotor: The winding rotor winding is similar to the stator winding, and it is also a symmetrical three-phase winding, which is generally connected into a star, and the three outlet heads are connected to the three collector rings of the rotating shaft, and then connected with the external circuit through the brush.
Features: The structure is more complex, so the application of wound motor is not as extensive as that of squirrel cage motor. However, additional resistors and other components are inserted in the rotor winding circuit through the collector ring and brushes to improve the starting and braking performance and speed regulation performance of the asynchronous motor, so it is used in the equipment that requires smooth speed regulation within a certain range, such as cranes, elevators, air compressors, etc.
